Most of the time, you’ll find the Cenetric team working the help desk to solve issues for clients or out creating just the right Wi-Fi setup to fix connectivity problems.
But not on one hot August morning a few months ago. On that day, you could find part of our team running and walking in the 22nd Annual Head for the Cure 5K – Kansas City. While we’re typically up for any 5K, this one was particularly special to us so we could support our friend Harry Campbell and his family.
Harry and his wife, Kris, first participated in the Head for the Cure 5K in 2003 in support of their family friend. But just months after the event, they found themselves truly part of the fight against brain cancer when Kris was diagnosed with a grade II astrocytoma brain tumor.
Kris and Harry were shocked but took quick action. Kris resolved to fight the inoperable brain tumor with radiation, and it’s now managed and regularly monitored with MRIs.
Each year, the Campbells run Team Kris Campbell as part of the fundraising effort for Head for the Cure. They’re always a top team both in number of participants and funds raised. In fact, they’ve raised $725,000 since 2004 and bring 150 to 250 participants along for the fun each year.
Our team was so moved by the Campbells’ story. It was our pleasure to be a part of the event this year to support them and the fundraiser itself. Corporate Woods is always a beautiful setting for events, and despite the heat, we all had a great time!
