Employee Profile: Dave Warner
Dave Warner is Cenetric’s Systems Engineer and has been with the company for 15 years – ever since founder Brittany Fugate launched the company, sparked by a weekly Rock Band session with friends. (He was the designated drummer.)
His background includes time at Sprint as a network technician and at Cerner, where he was a network engineer. He’s absolutely loaded with expertise and experience after nearly 20 years in the industry.
Meet Dave!
Tell us about your work at Cenetric
I handle a bit of everything, but my main responsibilities are helping out with sales engineering, acting as an escalation point for the help desk, and project planning.
What’s your favorite aspect of your work?
I love that every day brings a new challenge. I’ve never been one for doing the same thing day in and day out, so getting to move between so many different environments and challenges means I never get bored.
What’s the best employee benefit Cenetric provides?
I love occasional team outings to places like Top Golf or Breakthrough. Chances to hang out with the team and just have fun away from the office are always welcome.
What’s your favorite thing about the company culture at Cenetric?
Everyone at Cenetric is always watching out for each other, helping each other, and encouraging each other. The culture here is truly fantastic, and I’ve never met a more supportive bunch of people.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
My hobbies all involve storytelling of some sort or another. I love a good book, movie, tabletop role-playing game, board game, or video game – so long as it tells a good story.
If you could hang out with anyone for a day (living or dead), who would it be and why?
Carl Sagan. I’m a huge nerd at heart, and I fell absolutely in love with his Cosmos series and approach to science long ago. His writing and teaching have shaped a huge part of my worldview, and the chance to spend a day with him would be truly amazing.
What’s your favorite Kansas City restaurant?
Those who know my lunch habits would probably expect me to say Chipotle, but really I’d put it at a tie between India Palace or KC Thai, depending on the day.
What’s your favorite Kansas City place to go?
Shawnee Mission Park. I love to go out there in the early morning and watch the sunrise from atop the observation tower or to sit on a small rock by the lake and think.
